Wide fairways, boldly designed greens and large bunkers, some up to three meters deep are particular features to this superb professional standard golf course. The designer used the Paspalum variety of grass, similar with the Bermuda grass but it tolerates a higher salinity in its irrigation water, as well as being resistant to drought and high temperatures.

The Professional Championship of Spain held its first edition in 1942. Miguel Angel, has held six titles of this tournament (1953, 54, 55, 57, 63 and 65), and other Spanish winners include Antonio Garrido, Jose Maria Canizares and Manuel Pinero.
